The growing number of children diagnosed with autism increases the possbility that foster, kinship, and adoptive parents wil face this challenging disability. Dr. Robert Nickel, Professor of Pediatrics and nationally respected authority on autism, offers insight into Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) based on his many years of experience as a developmental pediatrician.
This course examines the core deficits of autism: communication, social skills, and play. Also covered are develomental delay, Functional Behavior Assessment, Asperger syndrome, and medical issues commonly experienced by children with autism.
