Behavior Issues
Teachers and educators working in general and special education, from kindergarten to 12th grade will experience behavioral issues in the classroom.  The primary problem teachers have is how to decrease or eliminate entirely, the behaviors before they escalate in volume and/or intensity.

One method professional development staff can utilize is DVD’s on functional analysis and positive behavior support training with visual demonstrations coupled with supporting guides.  Teachers learn an empirical, function based approach to eliminating challenging behaviors in students and to replace those behaviors with pro-social skills.

Another tool designed to help in the management of behavior is thoroughly assessing the cause of the motivation behind the behavior.  The Motivation Assessment Scale is for teachers who want a different approach including an additional way to determine why people’s problem behaviors persist.  The scale will help professionals to learn the function, or motivation, of behavior problems by assessing the influence of social attention, tangibles, escape and sensory consequences of problem behavior.

These are just 2 of the types of resources available.  Program Development Associates Behavior Issues store features dozens of resources related to disability behavior that are designed to reduce these problems in a planned and systematic way.  Teachers working with children or teens with learning disabilities, autism or other behavior problems will find a wide selection of DVD’s, curriculum and books from leading experts in the field.  Administrators and professional development staff requiring system wide change in their schools’ behavior management policy have successfully used many of these highly acclaimed, effective and efficient resources to reach their goals.
